Sri Lanka on Wednesday, 29th of March 2022 announced a power cut that would last over 10 hours over the course of a few days. Currently there are rumours spreading throughout the nation that the government would be cutting down access to the internet, in order to conserve power.

The Government of Sri Lanka also requested the entire island to stop form overusing power, such as charging multiple devices at the same time and overheads such as fans. Due to the lack of power throughout the country and the current economic crisis taking place, the Government rudely mentioned people to stay off the streets from queuing into lines for basic amenities such as gas.

The 10 hour+ power cuts were lastly issued 26 years ago, this gap of time shows how much Sri-Lanka has gone down. People all over the Island are rioting over the long duration of power cuts, since at these few months of the year March, April and May are scheduled for the O/Level and A/Level examinations. 

The government a few days back let out that all main level examinations are cancelled over the lack of ink and paper, this caused a major problem over the entire nation since exams would be taken back for over a few months which would affect the students in the long run.

Exams are currently taking place despite the power cuts, students still study through the night without any light.

People are going berserk all over the place, trying to save more and spend less. Restaurants, Malls and every other commercial place are running on multiple generators. People are dying standing in lines.

All that people can expect is that, this would most likely be continued in the upcoming days and the situation getting worse.
